What you are signing up for
Foresight is a discipline with tools, and that is the case this diploma makes. Innovation and Growth in Organisations and The Innovative Mind-set open with why organisations stagnate and what the alternative looks like from the inside. Principles of Research and Testing Innovative Ideas then supplies the method, Future Foresight is the unit that gives the programme its name, and Change Management for Innovation and Future Foresight and Innovation, Information Technology and Future Foresight look at making ideas stick and at technology as a driver.
Our data lists a unit titled Developing Innovative Business Cases Innovation in Action, which appears to be two titles run together in the awarding body's material; LSPM treats it as a business-case unit with a practical strand and will confirm the exact title on your enrolment paperwork. The learners who thrive here tend to work in planning, policy, product or improvement roles and want to bring a structured foresight process back to the office. It is a less common Level 4 title than business management and slightly more demanding in its reading. Qualifi's entry note mentions work experience in governmental and non-governmental sectors, which reflects where the demand has come from.
The seven units
- Innovation and Growth in Organisations
- The Innovative Mind-set
- Principles of Research and Testing Innovative Ideas
- Developing Innovative Business Cases Innovation in Action
- Future Foresight
- Change Management for Innovation and Future Foresight
- Innovation, Information Technology and Future Foresight
Unit titles and credit values are taken from the Qualifi qualification specification. The order in which LSPM teaches them is set by LSPM and confirmed at enrolment.
The two introductory units belong together, then the research unit, then business cases, closing with foresight, change and technology as a linked trio; a horizon-scanning exercise can run through the whole programme. LSPM sets and confirms the actual sequence.
Entry requirements
Qualifi sets the entry requirements for this qualification and LSPM, as the approved centre, applies them when it assesses your application. As published by the awarding body:
- learners who possess qualifications at Level 3 and/or;
- learners who have work experience in the governmental and non-governmental sector anddemonstrate ambition with clear career goals.
A Level 3 qualification or relevant work experience with clear career goals is what Qualifi asks for. We would add that you need to be comfortable reading reports and forming a view, because the assignments ask for judgement as well as description.
How you are assessed
Written assignments for each unit, with the foresight unit assessed through a scenario report on an organisation or sector of your choosing. There are no exams; check with LSPM how feedback works before each final submission.

Who it suits
Likely to get a lot from it
- Analysts, planners and policy officers in public or third-sector bodies.
- Product and service designers who keep being asked what comes next.
- Managers who have run out of patience with innovation theatre and want a method.
Better served by something else
- Anyone who wants a straightforward first-year business grounding; choose a Business Management diploma.
- Learners who want a technical or data science programme; the technology unit is about implications, not code.
- People who expect to leave with a professional foresight accreditation; none exists at this level.
Asked about this programme
What does 'future foresight' actually involve?
Structured ways of looking ahead: horizon scanning, trend analysis, scenario building and testing plans against several possible futures. The unit teaches the tools and asks you to apply them to a real organisation.
Is this really a Level 4 programme if it sounds so strategic?
Yes. It is pitched at the same level as a first university year, and the strategy is introductory. It gives you a vocabulary and a method; deep strategic work comes at higher levels.
How does it differ from the Entrepreneurship diploma?
Entrepreneurship is about starting something of your own. This programme is about helping an existing organisation see and act on change. There is overlap in the creativity material, but the audience is different.
